This time, Nayan Raj Pandey's book Yaar became my companion for the journey from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and back as far as Oulu. While reading this book, I too recalled numerous friends I met at various stages of my life. I, too, have apologies to make to many: whether it was the childhood friend I made pay for tearing a book, or exercising authority out of the arrogance of being a class monitor – I, too, have hurt people's feelings.
Whether I hurt many people's feelings or many hurt mine, keeping score probably has no meaning. The mistakes I made were likely the products of my growing, yet young and inexperienced mind and thinking, because a person learns and grows every moment. And those who broke my heart probably only knew that much as well.
I want to write, but I cannot be Nayan Raj; therefore, my memories will fade away with me. My words of gratitude will not be shared with anyone, and I probably won't be able to write an entire book about my grievances. But perhaps over the remaining five hours of this train ride, I will try to discard those bitter memories one by one into the streams and rivers crossed along the journey – so that my mind clears up a bit, and I can store new memories.

It has never taken me this long to finish a book as it did with Yogmaya. And actually, in between, I completed reading two other books and read about half of another one. I don't know why, but I never felt that intense urge to keep reading this book, yet I couldn't rest peacefully until I finished it.
Be that as it may, finding out that a character like Yogmaya existed in Nepali society and made such an effort to reform it to this extent was truly thrilling. At the same time, it brought a sense of regret that the society she envisioned has still not been built even today.
Neelam's work as a writer and storyteller is truly commendable.

After reading this book, I realised that political behaviour and the system have stayed the same, without any positive change. While the political culture remains unchanged by corrupt and chaotic management, it is not wise to expect any breakthrough changes in society.
At the same time, the book portrays the places where I spent most of my childhood, or places I have seen from close by. Jogimara's fields, the banks of the Bagmati and Sankhu took me back to where I was born and raised.

सकियो। मेरो लागि नेपाली परिप्रेक्ष्यमा मदन कृष्ण र हरिबंस जति उम्दा उचाइको मानिस सायद अरु कोहि होलान । किताब पढे पछी थप केही यथार्थ थाहा भयो जस्ले मेरो आंखामा उन्को उचाइ अझ बढ्यो। कमसेकम उन्ले र उन्को परिवार्ले दुख पाएको कुरा पढ्नु र सुन्नु पर्दा सार्हो मन पोल्यो किन हो किन ! तर पनि जीवन हो भोगाइ भोग्नै पर्छ।मह जोडि अ्मर रहोस अनि मेरा सुबेक्ष्या तथा प्रार्थना ।आफुले पढ्दा पढ्दै बिचमै रोकेर किताब दिनुहुने Bibechana Pudasaini Khanal भौजुलाइ धेरै धेरै धन्यबाद ।
